How does it work? Bookfunnel for eBooks
You've heard me talking about buying direct from the author, but...how does it work?
You might be on board with the concept. Like, it's hard to argue that Jeffrey Bezos needs more money, right? BUT...how do the eBooks get delivered to your Kindle, Kobo, Nook, or other reading device?
That's a totally fair question! I've outlined it below and also how to contact support for any technical issues that pop up. Remember you can also email support [at] elisabethwheatley.com at any time!
How does buying eBooks direct from the author work? 🤔
1. Make your purchase.
2. Check your inbox for an email from Bookfunnel! It will look something like this 👇

3. Select your device type and follow the instructions to instantly download to your Kindle, Nook, or other e-Reader!
4. If you run into ANY issues, just click "Need Help?" in the bottom of the email or in the top right corner of the download page and Jaime from Bookfunnel will help troubleshoot any issues you have, ASAP!
If you're still having trouble, don't hesitate to respond to your order confirmation email. I'm always happy to help you iron out any glitches! 🤗💖

also. sometimes webpages allow reading elub books directly from the downloaded location.
the other thing. with sites like netgalley for e arcs i have been hsing the documents folder on my kindle device for ages. before that i had a bunch of directions instructions for going places for knitting and spinning (fiber not running, never running, lol). oh and pdf versions of patterns because the device is easier to read patterns from than my phone. anyways, the documents folder has a lot of uses. also things in there can be in collections with kindle items too, so that way anything can be in a folder for bookhalla books and combine kjndle and bookfunnel versions if needed for different ways of having purchased things.
nooks have apps that you can read bokks in. and have for ages. i havent ever bought a nook and have had a good sized nook library, should connect to the pocketbook berse.
anyways. made myself a note of the process for send to kindle books now.
to read kindle books without a device, as of late may 2026
To read indie author books on your Kindle app, use Amazon’s Send to Kindle page. This tool allows you to upload DRM-free files (like EPUB or MOBI) downloaded from indie platforms directly into your app’s cloud library, making them sync across all your devices without needing a physical Kindle.
How to Use the Kindle App for Indie Books
Step 1: Download the File
When you buy a book directly from an indie author or a direct-to-reader store (like BookFunnel or Prolific Works), download the file in EPUB format. (If EPUB isn’t an option, select MOBI or PDF).
Step 2: Send the Book to Your App
1. Open any web browser on your phone, tablet, or computer and navigate to Send to Kindle.
2. Log in using your Amazon account information.
3. Drag and drop your downloaded indie book file into the upload box (or click the yellow button to browse your files).
4. Make sure the toggle for your Kindle app is selected, and click Upload.
Step 3: Read on Your App
Open your Kindle app on your phone, tablet, or PC and ensure you are connected to the internet. The book will appear in your Library under the “All” or “Documents” tab just like a standard purchase.
Best Practices & Tips
• Use Email: You can also email the book file directly to your specific Kindle email address (found in your app’s settings) from the email address authorized on your Amazon account.
• Organizing Collections: Because these are side-loaded books, they are classified in the app as “Documents” rather than books. You can add them to Collections to keep your indie reads organized.
• Alternative Reading Apps: If you ever want to break away from the Amazon ecosystem for your indie purchases, you can download dedicated, open-system reading apps like Lithium (Android), Apple Books (iOS), or the BookFunnel App, which handle universally formatted EPUB files without requiring a cloud conversion.
I was just coming in here to ask about what format the ebook format was in, but Book funnel tells me what I need to know.
Sometime ago you spoke about AI using creative work. You gave a website but I have lost it. Could you send it to me at revvicar@live.com.
Its my first time buying an ebook from here. Unfortunately I dont have any of the ereaders available. I have a pocketbook verse. Is any of these options compatible with my device?
